Book to help families during short term assignments
There's a brand new book out there now to help spouses left behind during short term assignments. Alone at Home is written by Marian Weston who has had a lot of experience keeping the home fires burning while back in the UK during her husband's numerous short term assignments. And of course, these assignments began post-expat life when Marian also had to cope with her own repatriation challenges!
More and more companies are opting for the short term assignment to avoid relocating the spouse and family. However well this is working to feed the bottom line, issues of relocation have been replaced with those of 'separation', which are magnified for the family left behind. Marian identifies the challenges and offer solutions from both experts and from her own considerable first hand experience.
If you click on her website, you can download the first 30 pages for free to get a feel for it. An important and welcomed contribution to the literature about global living.
